What you should know about vitamins. |
|
Confused ??? |
|
Are You Cheating yourself and don't know it?
The best nutritional supplement will be composed of whole foods, not isolated vitamins. Today, not only do most supplements NOT contain whole foods, they often use synthetic vitamins developed in a chemical laboratory. This is why many vitamin products tell you to take with food - the body has trouble recognizing these isolated artificial vitamins AS food!
In order for vitamins to properly function to their fullest
they must exist
in combination with other elements together called complexes.
(Phytochemicals)
These natural nutrient complexes contain the many different
elements
that work together and support each other, along with trace minerals,
which
are required for them to complete their biological activity.
Some examples are:
When these vitamins are not in it's proper complex, they cannot
perform
their essential function.
That's why you should not be taking the synthetic vitamins that
only
contain an isolated vitamin.
When you do take an isolated or synthetic vitamin it will
borrow the
missing elements from your body. In order for the vitamins to
completely
complete its function, it will use up your body's reserves of nutrients.
Take Vitamin C for instance. If you just take a synthetic Vitamin
C alone,
it will pull copper from your body and eventually causing you to have a
copper deficiency.
An unfortunate example of a medical problem that has increased
over the
last few years is macular degeneration. It may be a coincidence,
but with
the increased consumption of synthetic beta-carotene the cases of
macular
degeneration has increased proportionally. Beta-carotene is a
precursor to
Vitamin A but one problem is that synthetic beta-carotene inhibits the
synthesis
of lutein, which prevents macular degeneration. Hundreds of
scientific studies
show that regular use of lutein can prevent or even reduce macular
degeneration.
The synthetic vitamins will only be effective as long as your
body has
enough supply of the missing nutrients to make up the complex.
You may feel better when taking a synthetic vitamin at first, but
over
the long run your body will become imbalanced with respect to the
nutrients required.
The same is true with minerals working together. Taking too
much
of one mineral can cause a deficiency of another mineral.
Take for example, if you take too much zinc or copper alone can
adversely affect the status of the other.
So remember, when shopping for a nutritional supplement, that
each vitamin requires cofactors of other vitamins and minerals
to properly perform their function.
It could do you more harm than good if these nutrients are not
included along with it's proper complex (Found in whole food
supplements)
Since there are many other elements in nature that we haven't
discovered yet, it should be obvious to you that, just by using
common sense and logic the best source for your nutritional needs
are organically grown foods and natural whole food supplements
that are made from these foods.
You will not be getting the optimal results for your body from
synthetic
vitamins and you are only wasting your money on them.
Nutraceuticals (Assured quality) and Glyconutrients (Sources for Optimal Health)
There are many supplemental manufacturers that are
implementing the "Good
Manufacturing
Practices" to make sure their nutritional products are of high quality. So when
looking for
nutritional supplements, choose only from a manufacturer who has done this or else will not be
getting the optimal benefits you should be getting to stay healthy..
As you hear more and more
about nutraceuticals and glyconutrients being a
better solution
for health, I would hope that you will
make the right decision to look for manufacturer's that
offer
these quality nutritional supplements.
